Foraging Fireflies is a two-week spring festival in Palestine that brings together artists, researchers, cooks, farmers, and friends to explore how food and politics meet under occupation. Through walks, talks, shared meals, and practical workshops, we learn directly from the land. We follow the first rains and the sprouting of wild edibles that have nourished communities for generations. Rooted around Ramallah, the festival honours the women who have carried and taught these foraging traditions.

We envision Foraging Fireflies as an annual gathering. The first and, so far, only edition took place in spring 2023. Plans for subsequent editions were paused due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. When it is possible and responsible to do so, we aim to resume the festival and continue building knowledge, connection, and solidarity through food.
